As a Business Coach I see myself as a sparring partner who accompanies people in a professional context to help them recognize their resources and unlock their potential.
For me, coaching is a collaborative process that helps people reflect on themselves, see things from a different angle, and work through specific issues in a safe space. I don't see myself as a consultant who comes up with solutions from the outside, but more as a guide and supporter with a (neutral) outside perspective.
#FunFact: The original meaning of the word “coach” is ‘coachman’: his job is to get others to their desired destination faster, more comfortably, and more safely. The “passengers” – or the coachees – determine where they are going. The coach, who is familiar with the area, sits at the wheel and points out obstacles along the way and, if desired, makes suggestions for sensible changes of direction.
